Why Persimmon Soap?

Soap is a detergent. It lifts oil off your skin and the compound behind body odor isn't oil, so ordinary washing goes straight past it.

Persimmon tannin works a different way. It binds to the odor molecule and leaves attached to it.

Binding is a chemical reaction, and reactions take time. That's the entire reason this bar asks for sixty seconds and almost certainly why persimmon soap hasn't worked for people before.

Product Details

100g bar · 7.5 × 5.6 × 1.5 cm · about 30 days of daily use

· Japanese persimmon + green tea — two plant polyphenols, not one

· Saponified coconut, olive and shea

· Hyaluronic acid, glycerin and hydrolyzed collagen

· Scented only with cold-pressed sweet orange peel

· Free of sulfates, parabens, synthetic fragrance, aluminum and triclosan

Directions

1. Lather. Bar or lather bag. Work up a full lather everywhere you'd normally wash. Pay attention to the back of the neck, behind the ears, the chest and the feet.

2. Wait sixty seconds. Wash your hair. That's usually about right.

3. Rinse well.

Don't skip the middle step. Rinse at fifteen seconds and the tannin goes down the drain before it's bound anything — you've technically used persimmon soap, but chemically nothing happened.

Benefits

· Removes odor rather than covering it with fragrance

· Works on 2-nonenal — the compound behind "old person smell" — and ordinary body odor

· Built not to dry your skin, even used every day

· Won't still be fighting your perfume an hour later

· Nothing on the packaging announces what it's for

· 30 days to decide. If nothing changes, keep the bars and we'll refund you.

Japanese Persimmon

A tannin — a dense plant polyphenol — pressed from astringent persimmons. It doesn't lift odor off the skin the way a detergent does. It binds to the odor molecule and leaves attached to it.

BENEFITS

Soap is a detergent, built to lift oil. The compounds behind body odor aren't oil, which is why ordinary washing can go straight past them. Persimmon tannin works by a different route — but binding is a chemical reaction, and reactions take time. That is the entire reason this bar asks for sixty seconds.

Green Tea

Camellia sinensis leaf extract — the same family of polyphenols as persimmon tannin, working by the same chemistry.

BENEFITS

Persimmon isn't the only plant tannin that latches onto odor compounds, and we didn't want it working alone. Green tea gives the bar a second binder rather than one ingredient carrying the whole job by itself.

Coconut & Olive

Saponified coconut and olive oils — the base the bar is actually made from, rather than a base with extract stirred through it.

BENEFITs

A sixty-second dwell only works if the bar is mild enough to sit on skin without stripping it, which rules out the antibacterial and clarifying washes most people reach for first. Drying is the single most common complaint about persimmon soap generally. These oils are the first thing built against it.

Sweet Orange Peel

Cold-pressed from the peel. The only scent in the bar — no synthetic fragrance, no masking agent.

BENEFITS

It's a top note, which in practice means it's largely gone by the time you're dry. That's deliberate. A soap that leaves a scent behind is doing the opposite of what this one is for — and it's why it won't still be fighting your perfume an hour later.

Hyaluronic Acid

A humectant — a molecule that holds water against the skin instead of drawing it away.

BENEFITS

Paired with glycerin, it's what keeps a daily bar from becoming the one you quietly stop reaching for in week three. The difference between skin that feels clean and skin that feels stripped comes down almost entirely to what stays behind after the rinse.

Vitamin E

Tocopherol. It keeps the oils in the bar from oxidising.

BENEFITS

Unglamorous and load-bearing. Natural oils turn over time, and a bar that turns smells wrong and feels worse long before it's used up. This is what keeps the third bar in a three-pack as good as the first.

1 OF 6
Using persimmon soap in shower with sixty second method
The minute is the method

Give it sixty seconds.

The most common mistake is treating persimmon soap like regular soap: quick lather, instant rinse. This section is built around the habit change that makes the product easier to understand and easier to use.

Lather. Wait. Rinse. That is the whole routine.

I bought this honestly because I was getting paranoid about that stale smell that can stick to towels and clothes. I didn’t want anything that smelled like perfume or made a big deal out of it. The soap itself is simple, but the 60-second thing helped because I actually slowed down instead of just rinsing right away. After about a week, I felt cleaner later in the day, especially around my neck and underarms. It’s not a miracle-in-a-bottle type thing, it just feels like a better way to shower.

Perimenopause made my body odor feel different. Not necessarily stronger every day, just different, and it made me super aware of it. I’ve tried antibacterial washes and they either dried me out or smelled too harsh. This feels more like a normal soap, but better thought out. I use it on the areas that actually need it and let it sit for the full minute. My skin doesn’t feel stripped after.

I’m in my early 40s and noticed my sweat changed after workouts. Regular body wash helped for maybe an hour, but then I’d feel like I could smell myself again. I like that this doesn’t try to cover everything with a heavy scent. The timer sounded silly at first, but it actually made me use the soap correctly. I keep one bar in the shower and one in my gym bag now.

I thought persimmon soap was going to be one of those things made for women, but I tried it because my work shirts were getting that smell in the collar even after washing. The bar lathers better than I expected and doesn’t smell feminine or overpowering. I use it mostly behind my ears, neck, chest, and underarms. The biggest difference is I don’t feel like I need to re-shower the second I get home.

I get pretty bad odor after long shifts, especially if I’m wearing the same work shirt all day. I was skeptical because it’s still just soap, but the difference is using it slowly instead of rushing. I use it after work and let the lather sit while I brush my teeth. It doesn’t replace deodorant for me, but it makes the shower feel like it actually reset things.

I bought this for my dad, but I didn’t want to make it awkward. That was honestly the main reason I liked it — it looks like a nice bar of soap, not some embarrassing treatment. I put it in his bathroom with the little timer and didn’t say much. He actually used it. I can’t speak for him, but I noticed the bathroom smelled fresher after a couple weeks.

I’m not usually a specialty soap person. My wife bought the first bar and I ended up using it more than she did. The smell is clean but not strong, and the bar doesn’t turn mushy if you let it dry. I noticed it most on my neck and behind my ears. I also appreciate that the packaging doesn’t scream “odor problem.” It just looks like good soap.

My daughter mentioned I had a “different smell,” which was embarrassing even though she said it kindly. I ordered this because I wanted something I could use every day without feeling like I was using a medical product. The soap is gentle enough for me and the scent is light. I mostly like that it gives me a routine. Lather, wait, rinse. It makes me feel like I’m doing something about it without obsessing.

D
FAQs

Questions Before You Try It.

How fast does it work?

Most people notice the first proper wash feels different, but the real test is 2–4 weeks of daily use. Odor can live in fabric, collars, bedding, and towels, so give your skin and laundry time to reset.

How long does one bar last?

About 30 days with daily use. Let it dry between showers and it will last longer.

Will it dry my skin?

It is built with olive oil, coconut oil, green tea, and hyaluronic acid to avoid the stripped feeling common with harsh deodorizing soaps.

Why 60 seconds?

Because persimmon tannin needs contact time. If you lather and rinse immediately, you are sending the active ingredient down the drain before it has time to do its job.

Is this an antiperspirant?

No. It does not block sweat. It is a cleansing routine for odor ordinary soap can miss.

Can I buy this for someone else?

Yes. A clean bar of soap is quiet, useful, and bathroom-safe. It does not require an awkward conversation to be helpful.

Where to use it

Focus on the spots regular washing often rushes past.

The bar is the daily reset. The body wash is the upgrade for easier coverage, especially in the areas customers tend to miss.

Behind earsSmall area. Easy to miss.
Back of neckCollars, hairline, sweat.
UnderarmsDaily use, no perfume cloud.
FeetShoes and socks trap odor.
Towels + collarsGive laundry time to reset too.

Let's hear what some of them have to say.

This soap smells fresh and clean and really lives up to the performance marketing that first attracted me. A good sudsy lather stays on your skin as advertised and after a minute you rinse it off until it completely dissipates. I use it on my scalp, beard and all over for a squeaky clean outcome. Highly recommend.

Now that I’ve reached middle age, I’ve unlocked a brand-new irrational fear: what if I smell…old? Enter persimmon soap, which the internet confidently informed me is supposed to combat “old person smell.” Naturally, I had to investigate. A lot of reviews describe the scent as earthy, and that’s accurate—but in a good way. It’s subtle, herbal, and has a hint of citrus. It smells clean without screaming, “I just wrestled a pine tree.” Has it turned back the clock? I have no idea. No one has stopped me in the grocery store to say, “Wow, you smell 27.” But I genuinely enjoy using it, and it leaves me feeling fresh. Even if it’s only working on my peace of mind, that’s probably worth it.

It works and makes your skin soft!

I'm 58, Male and just started using about a year ago. This soap removes, doesn't cover up odor. It has a delicate fragrance that rinses off and leaves no residue. Comes with a net bag to hold and exfoliate your skin. Hangs up and keeps the bar dry. It costs more than everyday bars of soap but it is very much worth it.

This soap is the BOMB..smells great, leaves me feeling exceptionally clean, nice thick lather in abundance!! I can't help always keeping a stock supply of it!!

I was really skeptical about persimmon soap. Just happened to run across information on "old people smell". No matter how clean you are if you're of a certain age you can get that. It affects not only your body but your laundry as well and no matter what I used it wouldn't seem to come out of the clothes either. I decided to take a chance on this soap and very happy I did. The bar is small, but it comes individually wrapped in cellophane and in its own box and seems to be lasting a good while even though it is not a very large bar of soap. It worked on the very first use! It's a small price to pay for something that works so well and we highly recommend it.

Fantastic moisturizing and anti-chlorine smell. This one’s worth the money. Bought to deal mostly with two problems. My skin is super-sensitive and dries out easily AND swimming makes me smell like chlorine for days after. None of the “swimmers” soap did anything about the eau de chlorine smell. This one gets rid of the smell and, if you use the bar with the included bag, you get a crazy amount of foaming, soft soap that moisturizes well enough not to need my usual three layers of after shower oils and cream. Stick one in your gym bag at the very least.
